Gardening Club Update

HOPE GROUP Gardening Club is up and running and continues to meet every Wednesday from 12.20pm until 1pm. Two children from each class have been randomly selected by their teachers to come to these sessions, with new children being selected each term. Our current focus is on creating an edible garden using organic methods. We have already sown peas, baby carrots, radishes, purple carrots, lettuces and nasturtiums. We Need Your Help

HOPE Help Our Precious Environment This year we are planning some activities to encourage our children to become active citizens within our community. These will include: Bushland care Recycling Gardening care These will provide enriching learning experiences for our children and ourselves. We need some involvement from parents to help (commitment once per term). Please come to our first meeting. Thursday 26 March 3.15pm – 4.15pm in the Assembly Hall. We had a great meeting with many thoughts for our group. Our next meeting will be Thursday 26 March 3.15pm – 4.15 in the PE Room Banks block. Please consider what role you could take. One meeting per term may be all we do. We are considering:- Chairperson; vice-chair; projects coordinators; secretary; treasurer and public relations officer and afternoon teas manager. We will have our first HOPE session early next term to do drawings for the signs, make badges and have a treasure hunt. There will be afternoon tea and BYO water. Swimming carnival help

Unfortunately Hillarys Primary School had to pull out of the carnival due to sadly losing their swimming teacher to cancer. This means there are more jobs to share between the other schools. Parents coming to watch. Please volunteer to help with a roster position (You will probably see better than in the bay!) Parent workshops. Program success for our children

22 Feb: We still need two or three parents to coordinate ‘manage’ a session.  It will involve settling on a date and collecting RSVPs. On the day there will be some simple catering – putting out glasses, turning on the urn, plating the cake and fruit.  That’s it – a nice way to meet people. 6 Feb: It is encouraging to see so many families responding to this survey – thank you.  The results showed that the main topic of interest to parents is the You Can Do It Program so this will be the first workshop.
