Inter-school Athletics Carnival RESULTS

Yet another great combined Glengarry effort – well done everyone! Meritorious Shield We came second, of eight schools, as the most improved from last year. It certainly felt like we had improved because of the number of place ribbons won! Poynter won the shield and Davallia came third. Overall Shield We just missed out on fourth place by twenty four points and we missed out on fifth place by four points to come sixth. Davallia won the shield with Poynter hot on the pursuit all day. Champions to win a medallion Leo Halden was the Runner-up Year Three boy. Nathan … Continue reading Inter-school Athletics Carnival RESULTS

Fruit & Veg Month

As the Interschool Athletics Carnival is coming up, I’d like to take the pressure off parents to fill the lunch box with ‘energy’ foods as these are generally packed with extra sugar and preservatives. If the child nearby is eating fresh vegetables, perhaps a trend will develop!! Maybe try cutting up some fresh veges with a small dip (a waste-free spoon out of a larger container to keep it cheap). This September, Glengarry is proud to participate in ‘Fruits & Veggies – More Matters’ Month. I do not like campaigns which tell us to eat ‘more’ or ‘less’ of foods, … Continue reading Fruit & Veg Month

House Athletics is over

Many thanks again to all of you who helped in some way, whether it be on the P&C stall or cheering for your child. It was a wonderful day! I am now writing up the team for the coming Inter-school Athletics Carnival. I wish to reiterate that it is our policy to put our strongest team in. Children have had a chance to participate in all House events but must be the best to compete at inter-school level. There may still be a few challenges, as per the policy. Children should be prepared for this. As always, constructive feedback is … Continue reading House Athletics is over

Bush care

Hi Everyone, Please take note that Bush Club is not a closed club. All are welcome to come along at any time – the bushland can use all the help it can get! I’ll be weeding tomorrow morning if it’s not too rainy. Come along for a while if you are interested. (Send a message and we can make a time). The council is giving us great support with some new plant stakes coming soon. Here’s a link to some of the things which happen for the environment in our region by people who care:- https://blu182.mail.live.com/mail/ViewOfficePreview.aspx?messageid=mgMt7cId9R5RGYPQAjfeMlqA2&folderid=flinbox&attindex=0&cp=-1&attdepth=0&n=18294128 Also here is some … Continue reading Bush care

Bush Club News

There are lots of native plants around the school – planted by bush clubbers (anyone who comes to an activity is a Bush Clubber). The rain has been great for the plants but it will be next season before they look like these ones in the bush. Go for a walk and see how many rare and beautiful plants you can spot in the bush. If you see any weeds please pull them up to give the plants a chance. Be careful where you tread though because some of the Conostylus are still only two centimetres high. Watch out for … Continue reading Bush Club News
