Physical Education – general information

Here’s some information about how the classes run:-

Children in Years 1 to 6 have a one-hour lesson each week with the P.E. teacher.
Requirements for both girls and boys are:- school sport shorts; a school shirt; a school hat; a water bottle and a willingness to have a go. Please note the water bottle is encouraged as a life skill to be responsible for hydrating during activity – children are not permitted to use drink taps during lessons.
The ethos of my classes is to provide a range of interesting sports covering all fundamental movement skills. Within classes children should feel safe to perform at whatever level they can. High on the priority is an understanding that classes are not coaching sessions where children try to out-do each other, rather a time to include and encourage others whilst challenging themselves.
In addition, is a weekly sport session where games are played and children have a chance to be with peers from other classes.
Teachers take their classes out for fitness sessions and give opportunities to move throughout the day.
