tapping sticks and air beds needed

If you have any solid wooden poles please reply.  Tapping sticks are quite expensive to buy so re-using wood or thick pvc pipe would be great.  The sticks need to be between 20 and 25 cm long and between 2 1/2 and 4 cm thick, with smoothed-off ends. and more resources: I can make this caterpillar, so if you have an old air mattress please bring it in.

PE classes

Many thanks to Sally Hughes for doing such a fine job of taking my classes and sorting out the swimming carnival. I know the children appreciated your dedication and manner. Thanks Sally! Classes will now focus on cricket skills for the rest of term. Next term the main sports used to cover fundamental motor skills are the four winter sports in which our Year five and six children compete. These are A.F.L football, netball, soccer and volleyball. Children work on basic motor skills in lower grades and progress towards full game understanding in Year Five and Six.

Phys Ed resources help

Here are two tasks which might make good projects to do with your child… 1 There are sixteen badminton rackets with broken strings. The frames are good and it seems wasteful to throw them away. Is there anyone who could have a go at fixing them? 2 The tapping sticks have mostly gone to splinters. Is there anyone who could cut up some broomsticks and round off the handles for us to then paint and varnish? If you have children who would enjoy painting them, that would be fine too.

Cross-Country Training

Four laps around the oval is about one kilometre. Year Ones have been trying to run one K and some of them can do this quite fast! Year 3s should be training now and trying to improve their speed, ready for the Inter-school Cross-country event. Years 4 and 5 will be running one and a half kilometres and Year 6s do two K. Children are learning about how to safely push themselves and pay attention to the body’s signals. They must remember to bring their water bottle to PE and training sessions. Not every child can win the races but … Continue reading Cross-Country Training

Physical Education classes

Here’s some information about how the classes run:- Children in Years 1 to 6 have a one-hour lesson each week with the P.E. teacher. Requirements for both girls and boys are:- school sport shorts; a school shirt; a school hat; a water bottle and a willingness to have a go. Please note the water bottle is encouraged as a life skill to be responsible for hydrating during activity – children are not permitted to use drink taps during lessons. The ethos of my classes is to provide a range of interesting sports covering all fundamental movement skills. Within classes children … Continue reading Physical Education classes
