House Athletics Main Carnival

Please consider helping out with the House Athletics Carnival. We need someone to start the sprints.  This just involves saying ‘Take your marks’, blowing a whistle for ‘set’ and banging the clapper for ‘go’.  There is an assistant to line up the children for each race.  The job could be shared into morning and afternoon races. We also need some help on the finish line to give out ribbons.  Please email me if you would like to do one of these jobs – pam.algar@education.wa.edu.au .  We can share the jobs to avoid anyone working all day.

Cross Country Inter-school photos

Thanks to Mrs Schonfeld for sending these photos. Our team did a great job of supporting each other. We were proud of how hard they ran. Glengarry placed 6th, just missing out on 5th by four points. Well done Glengarry!

Interschool cross country training

inters cross country Programme & times 2016 Next training: I will go to Davallia Primary School oval at 3:15 Friday 5th for anyone who wants to run or walk the course.  It’s an idea to check the record times and see how close each child is. If you can possibly find ten minutes on the weekend to take your child down there, it’s a good idea to run the track a few times.

Cross Country Winners and THANK YOU

Everyone who ran was a winner!  Children, from Years three to six, who came 1st to 8th should go to Davallia Primary School and run the track as often as possible.  I am happy to attend – just come and make a time with me. inters cross country Programme & times 2016. Thank you to all of the helpers!  Clearly we cannot run this event without school community support.  If you are still standing on the side line at events, please step up when you can to share the load. Finally, I am tweaking the race times and how long … Continue reading Cross Country Winners and THANK YOU

Cross country roster for this Friday

There is no cross country training on the morning of Thursday as we had a good session today. We nearly have enough help for the House Cross-country event . The Glengarry mean machine is in operation!! The roster needs just a little more help: 2+ people for the Year 3 & 6 event 1.30 – 1.48 The other events could use a little help where some people are on for an hour one or two people for the Year 4 & 5 event 2.06 – 2.34 1 or 2 people for the Year 1 & 2 event 2.34 – 2.55 … Continue reading Cross country roster for this Friday

Fastest Cross-Country runners

You know who they are!! It’s a good idea to start practising on the inter-school track at Juniper Reserve, Davallia Primary School. If you would like help interpreting the attached map, I am happy to come and meet you after school to run the course.  Year 3s sometimes realize they are good after a few sessions.  Maybe get a few friends together and let me know. pam.algar@education.wa.edu.au

Cross country champs

If your child is in Year 4,5 or 6 and is a good runner you may consider entering them in this event run by School Sports WA.  It’s a good way to have them spotted! Please find all relevant information on the SSWA website, including the booklet to download at http://www.schoolsportwa.com.au/interschool/primary/cross-country/ Please note that schools and individuals can pay via the website when nominating.

Cross country training and event roster

More help is still needed. Thanks to those of you who have volunteered to help.  To be clear, please put your name into any slots which you might like to do – as many as you can – I will try to only put you on one of these.  Most people like to be near the finish for their own children’s races. It’s a good idea to stand with a friend for a bit of a chat and so as one person is free to leave if someone needs help. I will try to share the load and send the … Continue reading Cross country training and event roster
