Last Call for the BIG Watering Event

Please RSVP to Andrea by e-mail to andrea150@bigpond.com if you are able to come and help at….. The BIG Watering Event, this coming Monday 30th November from 3pm. Fun, games and a sausage sizzle are included. If your child is keen to join in but you are unable to assist, please complete the permission slip available in the office and deposit in the P&C box. Alternatively if you are coming along with your child, just send Andrea an e-mail so that we can finalise numbers.

Our Plants Need You….

Sausage Sizzle & Games Included!

Students and Parents… Please come and help us water all of our new plants to help them through the Summer.

Just Bring:

  • 1 or 2 big empty plastic bottles 
  • and your BIG STRONG MUSCLES!

(HOPE Group also has spare  watering cans).

All you need to do is complete a permission slip… Grab one from the office or E-mail andrea150@bigpond.com

This Thursday – FREE Wicking Bed Workshop!

The HOPE (Help Our Precious Environment) Group is hosting an after school Wicking Bed Workshop on Thursday 12th November from 3.10pm – 4pm. Peg Davies, from Mindarie Regional Council will be running the workshop. Wicking beds are a unique and increasingly popular way to grow vegetables. They are self-contained raised beds with built-in reservoirs that supply water from the bottom up – changing how, and how much, you water your beds. September Bush Club Activity

Do you all know what a donkey orchid looks like? What other springtime wildflowers can you recognise? Come and learn with us at our next Bush Club meeting on Thursday 17th September from 3pm – 4:15pm E-mails have already gone our to previous bush clubbers but if you would like to take part, everyone is welcome so simply send an e-mail to andrea150@bigpond.com and we will forward the rest of the details and add you to our list.  

Planting at School this Sunday!

Sunday Morning Green Fingers Planting Session – this Sunday 23rd August: 9am – 10am.   Our school has been kindly donated 250 native plants, trees and shrubs from Plantrite Nursery.  We would love you and your child to come down to school this Sunday between 9 and 10am to help plant a few around the school. Bush Club Interest

Are you going to join us in the bush? For those that you that haven’t participated in Bush Club yet, it’s a great opportunity to learn about our bushland and how to take care of it. We make it as much fun as we can for the children encouraging them to get a bit dirty with some hands-on  jobs like planting, watering and weeding. Other activities include plant and wildlife spotting, bush walks, creating signs and more. Visit us at Poynter Famers’ Market – 4th July

Come and visit our HOPE group who will be hosting the community stall at Poynter Farmers’ Market on Saturday 4th July between 9am and 12pm. We will be: Selling Succulents & Crafts prepared by Glengarry Students Facilitating a “Make Your Own Badge” Activity Sharing Information About Wildlife in our local bushland   This is primarily a fundraiser to help with the purchase of binoculars and magnifying glasses for children to use during HOPE Group activities.  See you there!

Calling All Nature Artists (Years 3-6)

We are looking for children in Years 3 to 6 who are good at sketching animals. On Monday 15th (and perhaps 22nd) we will have a sign writing session, after school, in the art room. We will be making up signs to show which species are in our bush. Child artists do not need to be already in the Bush Club. Recycling Activity – Worm Farm. RSVP by Tomorrow!

After School Recycling Activity The HOPE Group is holding an after school Worm Farm Activity on Tuesday 5 May. Information and permission forms for this activity have been sent to parents/guardians via email.  Places are limited, so get in quick by returning your completed permission form to the school office!
